Q: Is there different width sizes / fittings for shoes?

  A: updated (02/02/2012)

There is a standard width fitting for UK shoes, but that is not the only width fitting available. The standard UK width fitting is simple categoried as size 'F'. For narrow fitting, there is size 'E'; for slightly wider fitting, there is size 'FX'; for wide fitting, there is size 'G', and for very wide fitting, there is size 'H'. Width sizes / fittings are slightly more complex than length sizes. The standard F width size does not remain the same for each length size - a size 9F is not as wide as a size 10F shoe - but increases in proportion to the length size.
