Q: What do toe splints do?

  A: updated (16/02/2012)

Toe splints are used to separate toes which are rubbing together; which tend to cause blisters and other painful symptoms. Splints are used to relieve the symptoms of numerous health issues, but are most commonly used in relation to Hallux Valgus (bunions), Hammer Toes and Tailors Bunion. Toe splints come in a range of designs, but the most common feature is a strap which loops over the toes to separate them. Foam and gel are common materials used in the construction of splints: which helps provide padding for the toes that have been separated.
