Q: Promotions: do Adidas as a company run promotions?

A From the 1950's to the early 1990's, Adidas were solely a manufacturer of sportswear and it was exceedingly rare they would run promotions; as they did not deal directly with the general public. However, since the 1990's, Adidas have begun to operate company owned retail stores - such as their outlet and originals stores - and they now operate an online store in countries such as: United Kingdom, France, Germany and the United States. This has given Adidas far more scope to run company promotions; as they now deal directly with consumers in most developed countries. Promotions ran by Adidas tend to be restricted to a specific country: this is due to the Adidas Group (parent company) operating and owning subsidiary companies in most western countries; such as Adidas UK Ltd, that operate the Adidas business for a specific country or geographic area. Therefore, the subsidiary companies operate independently of each other and run their own promotions. There are also subsidiary companies which operate the online stores for each countries; such as the UK online store. Therefore, the subsidiary company that operates the Adidas retail stores may be different to the company which operates the online store; which is the case for the UK retail stores and the UK online store. This means that online promotions may be run independently of retail store promotions, and vice versa. An example of a current Adidas promotion is: 'UEFA EURO 2016 - Win The Ultimate Experience'; this promotion allows online users, in the UK, to win tickets for a knockout phase match at the EURO international football tournament.
