Q: What's the function of shoe insoles?

  A: updated (14/02/2012)

Insoles serve a similar purpose to inserts: which is to relieve pain brought on by a number of joint and health issues. As with inserts, insoles are placed within the shoe, under the sole of a foot. Insoles serve different functions, the most common of which is to relieve joint pain from; the foot, heel, knee and hip. Insoles achieve pain relief by providing arch support and shock absorption for the heel. Insoles can therefore be suitable for the relief of pain from metatarsalgia, mid tarsal arthritis, plantar fasciitis, mid tarsal arthritis, and plantar callous. Other insoles are suitable for people suffering from diabetics, by providing high shock absorption and a thermal insulation against the cold.
