Q: What is a court shoe?

  A: updated (02/02/2012)

Court refers to sports played on a court, such as Tennis, Badminton, and Squash. The hi-top shoe was developed for Basketball - another court sport - but, hi-tops differ to court shoes because they feature ankle support. Court shoes do not cover and offer ankle protection, but they do have a flat rubber sole: to offer maximum grip on the flat surface of a court. Court shoes have also proved useful for the emergence of street sports such as skateboarding. The flat sole of the court shoe provides grip on the deck of a skateboard, with a suede upper used to aid tricks such as a ollie.
