Wraparound shoe tongue for 'lockdown' fit (adidas)

James Edward Harden is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Houston Rockets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He currently endorses Adidas footwear and has helped design his own signature basketball sneaker: the Adidas Harden Vol. 1. The shoe is shown below in a 'Imma Be A Star' colourway; one of the key design features of the sneaker is the wraparound tongue, which Adidas state provides 'lockdown' fit.

Shoe that was developed by shooting guard of the Hornets James Harden.

I am speculating that by describing the fit of the tongue as 'lockdown', it's a tight fit that ensures that the ankle is fully supported and does not slip out of the sneaker. As the images show (above), the 'wraparound tongue' of the Harden Vol.1 reaches higher on the ankle than a traditional tongue, and has a bulky padded elasticated rim to provide the 'lockdown' fit. Harden has stated that the black-and-gold colourway of the shoe and it's tongue is inspired by a note he wrote to his mum; the tongue's logo is obviously a 'H' that refers to Harden.
