Pharrell Lanscilo Williams was born on the 5th of April, 1973, and is an American singer, rapper, and music producer. His music covers a range of music genres: soul, hip-hop and R&B. Pharrell Williams is known for his music production partnership with Chad Hugo; which encompasses the Neptunes and N*E*R*D. In 2005, Pharrell Williams released his first solo album: In My Mind. More recently, he has composed songs for movie soundtracks, such as: Despicable Me. Since 2005, when Williams went solo, his profile has steadily increased, and he is now recognised as one of the world's preeminent soul, hip-hop and R&B superstars.
Therefore, it should come have no surprise that Adidas approached him to collaborate on apparel and footwear. Adidas' North American marketing approach has for a long time relied on endorsements from hip-hop and R&B celebrities. RUN DMC and the Beastie Boys were the first, in the 1980's, to unofficially and officially endorse Adidas; RUN DMC and Adidas released a limited edition version of the Superstar sneaker; the band's favourite sneaker. Present day, Pharrell Williams and Rita Ora are the two most famous music celebrities to endorse Adidas and release their own Adidas fashion collections. Pharrell Williams latest Adidas Originals collection is the 'Hu' collection: which is short for 'Human': many of the pieces in the collection have "Human" and "Race" printed onto them, and the collection is a celebration of human diversity. The following Pharrell Williams Adidas products are currently for sale on the adidas.co.uk webshop: Pharrell Williams Hu Race NMD Shoes; Pharrell Williams BBC Track Jacket; Pharrell Williams BBC Palm Tree Shorts; and Pharrell Williams Stan Smith Shoes.
