The Adidas NMD_R1 is a modern lightweight running shoe that features a full-length boost midsole.
The boost technology is a midsole technology that retains energy and provides propulsion for the next step; Adidas describe it as an "energy-returning" technology, and it is placed in the majority of Adidas' new 'high end' medium and long distance running shoes. The shoe shown in the above image has a neoprene mesh upper: this is a 'stretchy' fabric that allows the foot to breath. Other versions of the NMD_R1 include a 'knitted' fabric upper. The laces of the shoe are placed through a TPU eyestay structure, which is placed directly above a 3-Stripes fabric design. The boost midsole also includes two moulded EVA plugs; one which includes an Adidas trefoil logo. The rear of the shoe includes a 'heel pull'; which makes the shoe easy to pick up and carry. The NMD_R1 is an expensive shoe - currently retailing at £130 - and there have been reports online of counterfeit versions of the shoe being sold on eBay and Amazon marketplace.
