Q: Adidas First Step: basketball shoe featuring Adiprene

A The Adidas First Step is an entry level midtop (covers the ankle) basketball sneaker that costs in the region of £35-50. The First Step sneaker is part of the 'Performance' range of Adidas products - the Performance range of products are modern Adidas footwear/apparel designed for sports participation - and features the Adidas Performance logo on the tongue (hidden in the below images).

Due to the First Step sneaker being an entry level product, it has a fairly basic design: a combination of Adiprene cushioning and light weight mesh fabrics. Adiprene cushioning is placed under the heel to provide impact protection and under the toe's to provide propulsion - basketball is a sport that requires constant jumping and places a great deal of stress on the heel and toe section of a basketball sneaker. The upper of the First Step sneaker is a combination of air mesh and light weight fabrics, and includes synthetic overlays to strengthen the structure of the light weight upper.
